Mary Chiesi was born Koh Soon Young, in Wonju, South Korea. She attended YonSei University at their Wonju campus. She was invited to 1:1 Bible study as a freshman, and met Jesus personally during her junior year of college. She found herself a sinner through studying the word of God in Bible study, especially Mark 2:5, “When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, ‘Son, your sins are forgiven.’” After graduation, deeply moved by the obedience of Mary in Luke 1:38, she decided to devote herself to God especially for campus ministry and world mission. She prayed to be trained as a Bible teacher and a missionary. In 2004, her pastor sent her life testimony to Kansas City, in order to introduce her to Shepherd Matthew Chiesi. God moved both their hearts and they were married in Seoul, December 27, 2004.
